Timor-Leste Population and Housing Census 2022 Preliminary Results
Abstract
The 2022 Population and Housing Census is the fourth census to be conducted in Timor-Leste, following the previous censuses conducted in2015, 2010 and 2004 in the post-independence era. It is the first digital census and also the last one to be conducted at ϐive-year intervals, as the next census will be conducted after 10 years, according to international
recommendations. The objective of the 2022 census is to provide up-to-date data on the country’s population size and distribution.This information is important for monitoring the implementation of
the Timor-Leste Strategic Development Plan 2011 to 2030 and also provides the country’s disaggregated data for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators.
